WIRED: One of the most incredible shortcomings of Twitter that didn’t seem very high on their To-Do list was the inability to find a person’s handle in a simple search of that person’s name. It was a Catch-22: You either had to know the handle already in order to find it, or resort to a Google search. The latter was a hardship on mobile devices, where most tweeting occurs, because switching to and from apps isn’t always a total joy — and just seems ridiculous.
Reading Nick Bilton’s ‘A Twitter for my Sister,’ it’s sort of easy to see why Twitter didn’t get to this ASAP (it’s the bit about building a rocket ship in flight). But, sorry, it was always lame.[read more]
