Wolters Kluwer Germany and Semantic Universe sponsor Triplification Challenge 2010

Two tracks available

Participants can choose between an open track and a special Open Government Data track.

The open track sponsored by Wolters Kluwer Germany and Semantic Universe encourages submissions that fit into one or more of the following categories:

In the Open GOvernment Data track participants are to design and build a web application that makes use of open government datasets. Any dataset qualifies that is produced by any government in the world. These can i.e.  relate to environmental data, cadastral oand geographic data, traffic data, historical data, public speeches, laws, demographics, election data, campaigning, corporate spending on political messaging etc.  The source need not be any particular national government nor any particular level of government (local, state, provincial, federal, etc).
At least one source must adhere to the principles of Linked Open Data. Mashups of raw and linked data are allowed and welcome.

The submission deadline for both tracks is 18 May 2010.

All submissions will be reviewed by an international program committee from industry and academia electing two winners in the open track and one winner in the Open Government Data track.

The award ceremony will take place at I-SEMANTICS, the 6th International Conference on Semantic Systems, taking place from 1 -3 Sepetmber 2010 in Graz / Austria which is held concurrently with I-KNOW, the 10th International Conference on Knowledge Technologies. The 2010 Triplification Challenge is organized by an international consortium consisting of Juan Sequeda (University of Texas at Austin), Bernhard Schandl (University of Vienna), Sören Auer (University of Leipzig), Ivan Herman (World Wide Web Consortium) and Tassilo Pellegrini (Semantic Web Company Vienna).
